For the new 223-series Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, the manufacturer has reinvented itself, singlehandedly redefining what automotive luxury can be. Raising the bar from its last flagship model, the new S-Class features a dazzling array of technology features inside-and-out, putting the focus on the passengers in more ways than just providing additional legroom.
Typically with cars, we’d start by discussing the engines. However, that’s not as important for Mercedes-Maybach. Instead, fortunate buyers — who will most likely be driven, rather than drive their pride and joy — will be treated to things such as a first-class standard rear cabin that’s accessible via electrically operated comfort rear doors, active ambient lighting supplied by 253 LEDs — which even puts on a “Welcome Rear” light show when you enter — executive seats as standard with a calfrest massage function and neck and shoulder heating, and so much more.
In the front it’s like an S-Class, only even more luxurious. There are five on-board displays including a 12.8-inch OLED central display that acts as a high-tech control center and a 12.3-inch 3D driver display that can use 3D tech to represent other road users and show pronounced depth and shade effects in augmented reality. The front seats are highly adaptable to offer more legroom in the rear, too.
In terms of driving, the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class has been given an AIRMATIC air or an optional fully active E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL suspension, a Burmester High-End 4D Surround Sound system that works alongside active road noise cancelation, dozens of safety features, and more.
